About Me

Hi everyone, I’m Elena and I enjoy making every aspect of my life full and happy even though my household income is low.

Some words about me…

Personally, I think that money gives people freedom. Each of us wants to be free, not to depend on other people and do what he likes. It’s just not always possible…
My lifestyle is not so much about saving money or affording only strict minimum necessities, it’s more about finding the way to get those ‘great little things’ that make your life complete without spending a fortune.
Nope, I don’t make new soap from leftovers, do not sew my own clothes (just don’t have tailoring skills even though I’d like to), I have WiFi and I’m not living in a tent. 🙂
When it comes to being savvy, I’m not trying to save every penny, but to avoid spending large amounts of money on certain things.

Once upon a time there was a Story…

The reason of my humble life may be different from yours, so may be my values and priorities. I’ve always enjoyed making good deals and having more for less even when I had a much higher income. Call me old-fashioned, but I’ve also always considered so-called ‘traditional family roles’ in the household equally valuable to prioritizing a dual-income goal. Also for me it is very important to create my own schedule for work and life in general. Let’s just say when I have enough free time, I’m happy to devote it to work… 🙂
But recently I had my little son and since that moment I have never even once questioned my own desire to remain a housewife and a stay-at-home mom to spend as much time with my baby boy as possible even though our income is way low. Again, not everyone in this situation makes choices similar to mine of course.

Then there was the Website…

I most certainly agree that having a decent well-paid official job is great because you get a good salary, full package of social benefits, insurance and additional premiums, etc. But what if your paycheck hardly covers your routine bills, food and rent even though you work full-time? What if you feel that you can’t afford enjoying life at all even though you’re so willing to and therefore feel miserable? What if you have to get all the necessary things you need without dragging yourself deep into debt?

That’s exactly when you need to learn how to live a high life on a low income.

I guess this website will be mostly helpful for those who don’t exactly choose to spend as little as possible – hey, we all want to be millionaires at least at some moments of our life! 🙂 I’m no exclusion here and of course I’d love to stop counting pennies… But life happens and sometimes it doesn’t give us much of a choice.

Regardless of the reasons that pushed you to a more modest lifestyle, I assure you that on this website you will find lots of useful practical information and advice which may help you to settle better in life, find a way out when facing difficulties, improve your financial situation and even become somewhat happier I hope. 🙂

Creatively yours,
Elena.

  1. Good Day, Elena.

It’s always refreshing to meet people that choose to live life on their own terms. When you are in charge of your days, you make better decisions.

This is a very brave choice that you have made but I’m confident that your days are well spent.

The days you spend with your son are priceless, not to mention the many benefits he is acquiring in the process. Lucky for you, but even luckier for him.

You have chosen well and your family is the real winner.

  2. Hi great post and very well written. I think you can lead a high quality life on a low income. You don’t have to spend loads to get a better quality of life. Some people take holidays every 3 months for a week spending a fortune. I believe a weekend break once a month with a fraction of the cost will be just as beneficial and you may even create more memories with these short breaks.

  3. Hey Elena:

An interesting stance. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that life is more than accumulating more and more things. Being able to choose what you let into your life rather than filling it with what’s supposed to be the latest and greatest whatever and choosing to appreciate and savor what you do have makes for an immense freedom in your life.

    Good on ya!

  4. Hey, Elena!

I’m so glad that I came across your site. I’m always looking for ways to save a buck, but not to the point that the item is so cheap as to be useless.

Actually, I think you site will appeal to a wide spectrum of people. Not only those on modest incomes look at ways to save money, but millionaires do too. How do you think they remain millionaires?

    What do you think?

  5. It’s great to meet you, Elena! 🙂

I certainly agree that money gives people plenty of freedom and choices in life.

But also, it’s important to be sensible with money at the same time because it’s very easy to go on spending sprees and landing it debt that’s difficult to escape.

Personally, my job really isn’t enough to pay the bills and enjoy a few luxuries in life, so I find myself having to work extra hours.

So it would be awesome to get some help from your website with my finances, so I could maybe cut down on my hours at work and make my money stretch a little bit more.

  6. We all have a life to live as best we can. Where we begin, the crossroads in this journey, the choices we’ve made, and luck or misfortune all contribute to where we are now. So, where do we go from here?
    I seek 4 goals:
    1. Hope
    2. Happiness
    3. Health
    4. Security
Wealth is no longer a priority to me. It seems to twist me into someone I’m not, as does poverty.
Each day, I ‘try’ to focus my energy on these.
Over the last few years, we have all had challenges and disappointments, but we are still standing, hoping for the happiness and peace that can sometimes seem just out of reach. I’ve not read over this website, but I like the energy and focus Elena shares.
    Keep up the good works.
